MC was one of the best contractors we've ever hired. We got bids on two projects from several concrete companies and although they were all priced about the same, Mickelson's bid included pouring thicker concrete on the edges for added strength. Randy was great to work with, as was his crew, who were all polite and friendly. They double checked measurements and levelness constantly, used rebar and made a gravel bed under everything, and actually gave us slightly larger dimensions on both projects than we requested without charging more. I am thrilled about the job Michelson Concrete did for me. They removed the old driveway, 80 feet long, started setting forms. The next day finished setting form, brought in fill the good stuff, compacted the fill. Installed the 1/2 inch rod, did the driveway in 2 pours, came back another day saw cut the concrete and sealed it. Came back another day and filled in black dirt where the forms were. When we first started our quest to find a concrete repair company, to repair damaged foundation blocks under our garage, we were woefully unprepared for the wide range of bids we would receive. We met with six concrete companies; four of which gave us completely different assessments and bids that seemed grossly overpriced, and the two we liked seemed to match our understanding of what needed to be done, but only one offered a fair price. Mickelson Concrete impressed us right away with a no-nonsense explanation of the issues we faced and the root cause. Their professionalism was unmatched compared to the other five companies we met with and their prices are fair. On project day, Mickelson Concrete arrived on time and got to work right away. While reviewing the work that was to be completed, we realized that a solution to solve the water issues that caused the foundation to rot was not on the bid (our fault - we had only focused on the blocks). I asked if they could add it on, and after a few moments of problem-solving, the project lead agreed and gave a quick/fair bid which we accepted. The team worked calmly and everyone was very professional. The workers were kind to our two kids who were very curious about where the concrete goes. They finished the project in one day and ended up charging less for the drainage run-off that they installed to solve our water issue than we expected. I was in need of having my sidestep patched up so I started asking around for companies that do this work. I was able to connect with someone in the trades who recommended Mickelson Concrete. Randy provided a free estimate that was really reasonable and was able to come out in early April to get the job done. He was great with communication, prompt on the scheduled work date, efficient, friendly and after wrapping up, gave me instructions on giving the concrete sufficient time to cure. He came out multiple times to my house to quote for free (I kept changing my mind on the layout). My family couldn't be happier with how the driveway apron, front door walkway and front yard dream patio turned out! The workers showed up early and exactly on time each day and were very respectful and kind. Randy happily coordinated the project with my dad so that he could put a gas line in for our fire pit before the concrete was laid. They went the extra mile to put a concrete patch over a broken asphalt spot on our driveway and also put the extra dirt they had around my patio so we could grow grass. I was given a thorough explanation of how the work would be done. The new walkways and steps look great. Randy went the extra mile and put back large landscaping rocks that had to be moved as well as my planters. He even added new topsoil to gaps left when the forms were removed, and put grass seed down. I don’t think many contractors, if any, would have taken that extra care. See more See less
